Samokov is located in the Samokov Valley in Rila Mountain, at about 950 m elevation. The town is 60 km from Sofia and just 9 km from Borovets, making it an excellent starting point for mountain, cultural, and SPA tourism.
In the city and surrounding areas you can visit the Historical Museum, the Virgin Monastery "Intercession of the Holy Mother of God", Beli Church, Barakli Mosque, Revival-era houses, and numerous historical sites. The area also offers convenient routes for walks, picnics, and mountain hikes.
